Pintail Smock
The Pintail Smock is one of two upper body garments from Ridgeline that I would not leave home without, at least for 3 out of the 4 seasons a year. The other is the Ridgeline Igloo top, which I will cover below. The Pintail Smock is classed under Ridgeline's 'High Performance' Range. Having worn the Pintail smock since getting it back in early Spring 2014 I can confirm that it sure does perform very highly. Its a bit deceiving actually, you kind of expect something as good as this to weigh a lot more, or be a lot more bulky, and that's simply not the case. Its light weight windproof and waterproof, yet all in a package that conveniently packs up into its own Kangaroo type pocket. This smock is always in my day bag. It will continue to be in my bag through all seasons from now on. Specs wise the Pintail Smock is made from Ridgelines Quiettex material, with a large room hood that easily accommodates a hat (my own preference is for a peaked cap) and three good sized pockets with waterproof zips to stop ingress of water damaging anything you might carry in them. Its long enough down the back to also afford that all important 'kidney area' protection, for whenever I am bending down a lot doing wood processing etc. All in all for a retail price of about £79 you will struggle to find a better piece of outdoor clothing that will cover so many bases across three seasons.
