Projects:
I set this 'Projects' Page up as a way of recording and documenting the occassional bit of 'tinkering' that I do out in the Man Cave. I like to buy new flashy sparkly bit of kit like anyone else, but I also get a great deal of satisfaction from modifying equipment to better suit my own needs (we will come back to this) as well as to build items from scratch using spare parts from here, there and everywhere!
On the point about better suiting my own needs, I have mentioned before that in the huge market that is out there for Bushcraft and Survival gear, some kit is good, some average, some bad, and some bits will only succeed in helping you become worm feed! Anything that I buy for myself is carefull scrutinised for a while first, reviews and articles are read and a decision formed over an items suitability for me, but I still, even after all that, like to add bits, take parts away, simplify items, lighten the weight of them, and generally try and make the item a custom piece that does EXACTLY what I want it to do.
There is something to say about doing these projects from a creative point of view as well dont forget. If you were to find yourself in a situation you would rather have avoided, or any kind of SHTF situation occurs (and remember I am not on about full on zombie apocalypse here!) including floods, earth quakes storms, electricity outages etc, then the process of creating something out of all parts becomes a necessity. I honestly believe that by tinkering around with things a persons mind can become tuned to see the potential in 'things'. We start to look at an object and see beyond the designers primary purpose for the item, and almost in the minds eye you start to 'see' options...and I like options!
