Possibles Kit:
The Possibles Kit, like the PSK or Personal Survival Kit, is an item that should be, in my opinion, unique to each individual. I have often heard people ask what the difference is between a Possibles Kit and a PSK, with some confusion over not just the contents of the kits, but also the intended purpose of each one. I will go into my Personal Survival Kit in another article, but to make the distinction right now, in my mind, in an absolute emergency the PSK is designed to help me SURVIVE, the Possibles Kit, every day, is there to help me THRIVE. There can be some overlap, and in my opinion there is no reason why there cant be redundancy between the two. Do what works for you. Its your life, its your experiences, and ultimately you prepare for the comfort and wellbeing of you and your family. So, lets take a look at that Possibles Kit, how its carried, what items are in there and an overview of the reasons each item has its place. I know for a fact some people will read this and ask why I dont have certain items...the likely answer is that I probably have the item in another part of my pack or bag. Sewing kit for example. I dont tend to need or use one very regularly, so I carry this in my wash kit. seems like a logical place for me, but it might not be for others. I do have some means to make repairs in my 'Possibles' kit, in the form of a nappy pin, cordage and duct tape, but I have rarely needed a set of needles and thread, so I dont carry them in this kit. Moving on...
BCB Ammo Pouch thermal flask - 'Old Faithful'
Old Faithful has been with me on pretty much every single outdoors trip over the last 6-7 years. In summer she doesn't get so much use, but in winter, when a nice hot drink is needed, that's a different kettle of fish entirely! A 400ml capacity is pushing the larger end of the scale where these ammo pouch flasks are concerned, and I like it that way. $00ml is enough for me and my wife to have a good drink each from the one flask. In terms of the dimensions as well, she fits a single walled stainless steel folding handled mug perfectly, which affords another drinking vessel should one be needed. Old Faithful's wardrobe consists of one MTP ammo pouch that has a couple of molle straps on the back, and closes through a hook and loop patch on the front, with a flap that extends quite a way down for security. She may not be the prettiest flower in town, but she is mine and I love her!
Hudson Bay Tin
The Hudson Bay Tin is another iconic piece of kit, and one that I have been wanting to get my hands on for ages! I was gifted this by a YouTube friend that came to stay with me for an overnight camp in my local permission woodland, and its immediately become one of my most treasured pieces of kit! Flint and steel is my most favourite method of lighting a fire. Its not the most practical or pragmatic way of lighting a fire, but its my favourite. charred material is carried in the tin, but I use an old Altoids tin to do the actual charring itself, and that is usually kept in a belt mounted pouch (see entry below) made by my mate up in Scotland, Ron Swanson from FoxCompanyPrepping and the Fox Workshop. This Hudson Bay tin will soon be clothed in a different pouch by the same leather craftsman.
Burleigh Balm
This is a new item of kit for me, taking a place on my person in an EDC capacity, but when I go out to the woods as well. rashes, bites, stings, and other skin complaints can cause a distraction, so I do like to have something that counteracts the irritation of these things. I do carry a small bottle of Tea Tree Oil in my First Aid kit, but I also wanted something that would take the place of a rub or an ointment. Its an ointment that is based around a bee's wax suspension, with coconut and plantain included in the recipe. Plantain is well known as a remedy for bites and stings.

Altoids Tin Belt Pouch - Fox Workshop
This gorgeous leather Altoids tin pouch was sent to me as a gift from a fellow YouTuber (FoxCompanyPrepping). Crafted from a kind of red/magenta/purple coloured leather, it houses one Altoids tin in the main compartment, and has an ingenious space underneath for a shotgun cartridge container, that opens up to release the shotgun shell, using the same high quality Sam Browne studs used elsewhere on the pouch.
